3.15 I have seen Passing Strange twice now. I have never gone to a church, or adopted a religion, but if ever I were to pick one up, it would be this one. This gospel-toned tribute to poetry and music and being a stupid teenager just trying to get by, all the way to the age of 40.
3.14 I made it all the way through 6 hours of Tristan and Isolde at the met. Tristan had falled ill before the show, Isolde stopped mid-duet for her replacement to come on, but I, and the most adventurous of old ladies, were there to the end. The set, costume, and light design -- done by a German team -- was the most visually stunning work I've seen. And the king, Wagner incarnate pining for his prince, was irresistably moving.
